Access to and Accounts of Using Digital Tools in Swedish
We learned that the PTK’s remote, asynchronous ethnographic Video chat is a great way to foster trust between participants and researchers. Despite the need for in-person Methods can vary from blogging and video diaries to mobile communities. Indeed, mobile is proving the key force that is driving digital ethnography adoption. The fact that it’s a device that most participants are used to using in their daily lives makes it a much more natural tool for them to capture everything from images to video. Screencapture software, website archiving tools, servers, blogs and content management systems are common tools of digital ethnographers. They are the equivalent of the audio recorder and journal. To date, there are no seminal works collecting and describing ethnographic or anthropological methods for digital researchers.

Through research and critical engagement, we collectively seek to push the boundaries and possibilities of ethnographic practice in, through and around digital media. In recent years Digital Ethnography, or the application of qualitative ethnographic enquiry to online data has become an expanding field of research.In this two day workshop we offer a crash course in the basic methods of digital ethnography and a tutored hands-on experience within a mini research project.
